The Democratic Party of Virginia's (DPVA) landmark Voter Protection Council (VPC) is one of the first volunteer run councils devoted to voter expansion and protection in the nation. The VPC was formed at DPVA's March 2015 State Central Meeting. We work to ensure free, fair, and accessible elections for every citizen of the Commonwealth. Some of our efforts are non-partisan, but we are a Democratic organization.
The VPC will established year round voter expansion and protection effort within the Commonwealth. In addition to recruiting volunteers and maintaining lists for our annual election day voter protection work, the Council will also work throughout the year on such issue areas as voter registration, restoration of rights, redistricting, election law education, voter education, and tracking and influencing legislative and administrative decisions.
Most counsel members are Virginia attorneys, but non-Virginia attorneys, and non-attorneys with an interest in election protection issues are also welcome to join.
